Louisiana joins other states requesting exemption from act
Louisiana has joined at least 25 other states in submitting a request for exemptions from the federal "No Child Left Behind Act."
State officials say the proposal stresses the importance of schools preparing students for either college or post-high school career training.
The latest version of Louisiana's waiver request has been posted on the education department website. First unveiled Febtuary 7, the request was tweaked during a public comment period. Officials planned to submit it to federal officials Tuesday.
