For a second time this year, Louisiana residents could get a reprieve from paying sales tax. Louisiana's Annual Sales Tax Holiday (RS 47:305.54), held on the first consecutive Friday and Saturday of August, is only one week away.
Alex Collins, owner of A.J. Price Tire Center on Hwy. 531 in Minden, said the holiday had more of an effect on his business when it began.
"For the first few years they started doing it, we saw a pretty promising change in it," he said. "A lot of the times when people are aware of the holiday, they'll wait to shop for that holiday. Really, as far as the end of the month goes when it comes to sales, it balances itself out."
