Cullen Mayor dies

Cullen Mayor dies
Cullen Mayor Dexter Turner has died.
 
Turner was out of town when he died, according to Cullen Police Chief Mary Hoof.
 
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
 
Turner, who took office January 1, previously worked as a detective for the Springhill Police Department, but was terminated in May,2012 for allegations of misconduct.
 
Funeral services are pending.
 
Mayor Pro Tem Gary Sullivan will serve as acting mayor.
