Bill allows special ed students to opt out of testing

Special education students could opt out of state testing with the passage of a new bill.

House Bill 343, introduced by Rep. John Bel Edwards, D-Amite, would allow parents of special education high school students who have a diagnosed learning disability and are not pursuing a diploma, to decide whether their children will take part in the state's accountability testing.
