James Troy Webb

James Troy Webb

James Troy Webb, of Minden went to lend his voice to the Angel Band in Heaven on Feb. 16, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Troy was born on Dec. 26, 1935 in Timpson, Texas. He married Gwendolyn Dupuy on March 30, 1958, and they had three children, Sarah, Jimmy and Mike.

Troy was the owner of City Pest Control in the Minden area for more than 40 years. He loved his work and especially his customers. Troy was well known for his singing and guitar playing locally and throughout east Texas where he was born and raised. Playing country and gospel music was Daddy's passion. The only thing that made him happier was spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a man who loved God and people. His "gift" was helping others while making them laugh.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.H. Webb; sister and brother-in-law, Gertie Loyce and Billy Ray Collins; and brother-in-law James Johnson.

Troy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gwendolyn D. Webb; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Tim Tully; two sons, Jimmy Webb and wife, Karyn and Mike Webb and wife, Becky; sister, Joyce Johnson Davis and husband, J.C.; brother, Weldon "Tuffy" Webb and wife, Shirley.

Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Justin Webb and wife, Sandi, James Webb, Morgan Webb, Lydia Webb; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Sawyer and Kimi Sawyer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Royce Chapman, Mid Johnson (nephew), Mark Johnson (nephew), Hershel Barnes, Basil Alexander, Justin Webb (grandson), James Webb (grandson), and Matthew Sawyer (stepgrandson).

Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, from 5 until 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 903 Broadway, Minden.

Officiating the funeral services today (Monday, February 20) at 11 a.m., will be the Reverends John Cannon and Wayne Howington at First United Methodist Church Minden. Burial will immediately follow at Centuries Memorial in Shreveport.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to First United Methodist Choir or Lakeview Methodist Youth Fund.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to Dr. Michael Chanler and his staff for all of their care and compassion.
