David L. Monzingo

Graveside services for David L. Monzingo were held at 10 a.m. today (Friday, August 10, 2012) at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Rd, Bossier City. Officiating was Frank Himmel of Viking Drive Church of Christ. Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City.

David was born July 1, 1942 in Minden and died August 7, 2012 in Bossier City. David served his country as a M.P. in the United States Army. He was a retired carpenter. David was an avid reader, especially of the Civil War and American west. He loved animals and the outdoors.

His parents, Fred and Ima Lee Monzingo; sister, Myrna Moore; and brothers, Byron Monzingo and Fredric Monzingo preceded him in death.

David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Freida Haynes Monzingo of Bossier City; son, Jason David "J.D." Monzingo and wife, Lisa, of Haughton; daughter, Maria Elena Monzingo Havard and husband, Jeff, of Haughton; sister, Sandra Spivey and husband, Bob, of Shreveport; and brothers, Larry Monzingo and Jerry Monzingo and wife, Mary, all of Minden.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Bradley and Gavin Havard, Michael Hammett and Kami and Kali Monzingo; great-grandsons, Broox, Braylin and Drelyn; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
