Funeral services for Elizabeth Turner will be held today (Tuesday, October 11, 2011) at 1 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Crider and Dr. Bill Tolar. Interment will follow at Minden Cemetery in Minden. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time today at Rose-Neath.
Elizabeth was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Goldonna and entered into death Oct. 9, 2011 in Minden. She was a lifelong resident of Minden, a member of First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, an active supporter of the Humane Society and retired from the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant.
Her husband of 62 years, John Killen Turner; parents, Wayne and Molly Gibson; brothers, Dyson, Jake, Wayland, Ben and Paul; and sisters, May Kimball, Florence Scallion and Nell Warwick Bush preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ernestine Gibson; brother-in-law, George Turner and wife, Ruth; three nephews; seven nieces; 11 great-nephews; 10 great-nieces; and a host of great-great nieces and nephews; and Vega, her dog.
She was a devoted wife, tireless caregiver to people in need and gave countless homeless animals shelter. She will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Ellen "Polly" Davis for her selfless support and loving care she provided to our aunt.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Helmstetter, Boyd Gibson, Gafe Gibson, James Earl Gibson, Glenn Holtzclaw and Keith Wyatt.
Honorary pallbearer will be Rodney Hanson.
