Funeral services for Bernice Dean Newman will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Parker. Interment will follow at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sibley. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012) at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Bern was born June 15, 1933 in Ruston and entered into rest Feb. 6, 2012 in Shreveport.
His parents, Wes and Bertie Newman; brothers, J. W. Newman and Jimmy Newman; and daughter, Dianne Pellerin preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia W. Newman of Sibley; sons, Dean Newman and wife, Lana of Sibley and Tony Newman of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Donna L. Newman of Sibley; grandchildren, Chris Reed, Ami Newman, Ashley Tackett, Jessica Glover, Michael Dean Newman and Josh Rosenbaum, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to niece Karen Mangrum.
