During last month's St. Jude softball tournament, many people around the ball park were in agreement that it was time for Minden to form its own league. It looks like those hopes have been heard.
Now, the speculation is that Minden could have an adult league as soon as March. That's something that Minden resident, Eric Savage, would be pleased to see.
"At last month's St. Jude tournament the turnout from Minden was pretty big," Savage said. "Out of 15 teams that participated 13 were teams from Minden."
The league would include a men's and women's division and is for anyone 18 and older. Support for the league is already high and Savage believes both the men's and women's divisions will flourish.
"Our facebook page already has 350 'likes' and of those interested we have more women than men," Savage said.
The Minden recreation complex would be the site for all of the games, which is approximately 20 miles closer than the leagues locals currently travel to play in.
"We already have a ton of support for this. People are tired of driving to Shreveport/Bossier City to practice and play," Savage said.
Savage said a meeting is scheduled for next month to discuss details of the proposed league.
