Investigators armed with arrest warrants naming a local woman wanted for drug charges hit the jackpot Friday at a local motel, coming away with five individuals arrested for illegal narcotics.
Members of the parish Community Action Directive (CAD) unit nabbed 31-year-old Jennifer Michelle Wiggins with warrants charging three counts of distribution of methamphetamine and two counts of illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of juveniles, Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said.
"Our deputies had been looking for Ms. Wiggins and learned that she had been staying in a room at the motel," Sexton said. "She was at the swimming pool when we found her."
Sexton said deputies found Ms. Wiggins in possession of three baggies of suspected methamphetamine, scales for weighing the methamphetamine, a meth pipe and nine suspected marijuana roaches containing green vegetation.
"We also found eight pills which were discovered to be a schedule four narcotic identified as clonazepam," he added.
Sexton said the deputies knew Ms. Wiggins had two children who reportedly were with her at the motel. They reportedly asked for and received permission to search her room. Inside, the deputies found more suspects, the sheriff said.
"In addition to the children, we found four other individuals inside the motel room," Sexton said. "We were told a couple of them ran to the bathroom and apparently tried to flush some items down the toilet."
Inside the room, deputies discovered a small amount of suspected synthetic marijuana. Those placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor were:
Edward D. Jackson, 26, 100 block of Pine Street in Minden;
Quardrick L. Clark, 32, 1400 block Bayou Avenue, Minden;
Nicole B. Willis, 21, 100 block Shane Drive, Minden.
Alfred N. McCann, 23, 500 block W. Marshall Street, Minden. McCann was also charged with resisting arrest.
Wiggins was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on bonds totaling $245,000, the sheriff said. Sexton said Friday's arrest is Wiggins' third for drug charges.
Sexton said Jackson, Clark and Willis were booked at BDCC under $1,000 bonds while McCann's bonds totaled $2,000.
