A parish woman's green thumb landed her in trouble with the law Tuesday when deputies allegedly found a marijuana plant growing in a pot outside her residence.
Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said Melinda Woods, 34, was charged with cultivation of marijuana when deputies responding to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Walter Lyons Road discovered the potted pot plant in the back yard.
"Our deputies were questioning the suspect and she told them she had no illegal weapons or illegal narcotics," Sexton said. "They advised Ms. Woods she needed to be honest with them and she then admitted there was a marijuana plant out back."
Sexton said the deputies found the plant, approximately two-feet, outside in the rear of the residence.
Deputies transported Woods to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where she was booked on the cultivation charge.
