Muddy Bottoms set to get muddy for the military

SAREPTA — Mud, munitions and music — everything is all set for a weekend of "Mudding for the Military" at Muddy Bottoms ATV Park in north Webster Parish.

About six weeks after the park's grand opening, country star and Sarepta native Trace Adkins will headline events at the mud park with a concert at 9 p.m., Saturday.

"We put the feelers out a little while back, and his family reached out to us," Muddy Bottoms park manager Jeff Drost said. "There was some chit-chat between us, and it worked out."
Westbound 21 will open for Adkins.

Friday night festivities include a fireworks show over the park lake.

During the grand opening Memorial Day weekend, more than 12,000 people came through the gate to ride the more than a hundred miles of trails and bogs at the park, which is much of the old International Paper's mill pond and run off.

"It's hard to say (what we expect) because in the summer time, we fight the beach and lake weather," Drost said. "We don't know if it will be bigger or smaller, but it feels like it's going to be good."
