Pushy suspect lands in jail

ADAM WADE ANGLINA Bienville Parish man is behind bars at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on multiple charges after reportedly getting pushy with a Webster Parish deputy.

Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said an off-duty deputy was at a Homer Road gas station when Adam Wade Anglin, 50, of Ringgold approached him and asked for assistance in obtaining fuel.

"The deputy gave him some money and when the suspect left to pay for gas, the deputy became suspicious and asked headquarters to run the vehicle license plate," Sexton said. "The information showed the tags were stolen."

Sexton said Anglin returned to his vehicle and the officer identified himself as a deputy sheriff. Anglin then allegedly shoved the deputy backward and escaped in his pickup truck.

"The suspect fled up Country Club and turned onto the Germantown Road, then traveled to Palmer Road where one of our deputies who responded to the call discovered him off the road in a wooded area," Sexton said. "He was taken into custody without incident."

Sexton said Anglin is charged with possession of stolen things, switched license tags, driving under suspension, expired motor vehicle inspection and battery on a police officer.

The deputy who first came in contact with Anglin reportedly was not injured in the incident.
