Rawls reacts to Common Core dispute

Members of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education are scheduled to meet Tuesday in what could be shaping up as another round of debate over the fate of Common Core, the national academic standard for reading, writing and math.

According to published reports, Tuesday's special meeting was requested by three BESE members: Lottie Beebe, Carolyn Hill and Jane Smith, former school superintendent in Bossier Parish and a Gov. Bobby Jindal appointee to the board.
