An opportunity to preserve the past for the future will present itself next month in the form of a fund-raiser for the Dorcheat Historical Museum.
Monday, September 12, the museum will be hosting its third fund-raising event since the 2008 opening.
"Last year, the fund-raiser was a huge success, and raised more than $20,000," said Louise Snook, board member and gala event organizer for 2010. "More than 125 guests were in attendance, and the museum was filled with anticipation of the night's activities which included a silent auction and a first time viewing of the new state of the art Media/Learning Center & Theater.
Snook said this year promises to be no exception under the direction of the 2011 event organizers.
"A wonderful array of silent auction items is being gathered plus lots of great food, music and a showing of what has been accomplished for the year are scheduled for your enjoyment," she said. "With the new Media/Theater room opening, it gives the museum an extra advantage of being able to offer this facility to others."
To attend the fund-raising event, send response card and check ($25 per person) to Dorcheat Historical Museum P.O. Box 1094 Minden, La. 71058 by September 1.
