Charles Waller

waller obitCharles Waller was born August 18, 1951, to the late Deacon Joe and Deaconess Bessie Waller in Minden. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Artis Waller, Albert Waller, Mack Waller and James Waller and three sisters, Angeline Bell, Gertrude Donaldson and Hazel Seale. He departed this life suddenly Friday, June 20, 2014, at 6:15 a.m.

Charles united with Growing Valley Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Webster High School in 1973. Charles joined the United States Marine Corps in January 1971 where he served and received an Honorable Discharge.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Roxie Miles-Waller; four daughters, Jasamine Waller, Bessie Jean Waller, Charlesetta Waller and Latricia Waller; five brothers, Joe Waller Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y., the Rev. Henry Waller (Mildred) of St. Albans, N.Y., Andrew Waller (Ethel) of Minden, David Waller (Pauline) of Roosevelt, N.Y., the Rev. Samuel Waller (Nieris) of Dover, Del.; two sisters, Daisy Waller and Thelma Jean Stevens (Bernard) both of Minden; three sisters-in-law, Gnette Brown (Jerry) of Doyline, Cecelia Waller of Englewood, N.J. and Mary Waller of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends; special friends, John (U.L.) Carey and James Scott; and special cousin Elaine Loud. He will be missed by niece Dollie who called him every day.

Charles was loving and kind with a gentle sweet spirit. Always finding the best in everyone. He had a hard time saying "No" to any request made of him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at Growing Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 1686 Fuller Road, Minden, with Dr. George Rice officiating. Viewing will be held Friday, June 27 at Benevolent Funeral Home during regular viewing hours. There will not be a formal wake.
