A Minden man who reportedly thought he was making a brief visit to the local probation office just before noon Thursday now finds himself in more permanent surroundings.
Minden Chief of Police Steve Cropper said 37-year-old Jelani Henry Railey, of the 200 block of Miller Street, was arrested on a warrant for drug distribution when he arrived at the office.
"He was the subject of an undercover narcotics operation," Cropper said. "We had been looking at him for distribution for some time."
Officially, Railey is charged with distribution of CDS Sch. I (marijuana). He also has been placed on a probation hold, Cropper said.
Railey is being held at the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a $35,000 bond, the chief said.
