Barbara Babb Willis of LaGrange, Ga., formerly of El Dorado, Ark., passed away April 30, 2014. She was 88.
Mrs. Willis was born Dec. 31, 1925, in El Dorado, Ark., to J.J. and Lucy Hall Babb. After graduating from El Dorado High School, she attended LSU where she met her husband, Henry Clinton (Clint) Willis Jr. after he returned from serving in Europe during World War II. She finished her degree in Voice at Louisiana Tech University in 1949.
The couple later moved back to El Dorado where they raised their three children. Mrs. Willis was a faithful Christian and a long-time member of First Baptist Church of El Dorado before moving to Texarkana, Ark., in 1984. She was a talented, classically-trained soprano and sang in many local church and choral productions. She was also a well-known Registered Public Accountant for many years. She retired at age 79. Her greatest thrill was watching her children, and later her grandchildren, in their many activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Betty Myrick.
She is survived by her children, Jeff Babb Willis and wife, Olga, of Richmond, Ky., Henry Clinton (Todd) Willis III and wife, Renae, of LaGrange, Ga. and Patricia Susan Addington and husband, Benny, of Doyline; grandchildren, Meredith Willis Griffin (Bowen), Stephanie Willis, Charlie McGehee, Clint Willis, Patsy McGehee Carter (Jordan), Anna Willis, Emily Addington and Katherine Willis. She had five great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in El Dorado at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Ga., or First Baptist Church in El Dorado, Ark.
