House backs charter school restrictions

BATON ROUGE – A house bill that takes decision-making for charter schools away from the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) and gives it back to the local school boards passed the state House of Representatives Wednesday.

Rep. Gene Reynolds, D-Minden, voted in favor of HB 703, saying he thought the vote would be close.

"That's a good start to the day," he said.
