A 28-year-old man is being held in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center charged with domestic abuse battery for an incident earlier this week involving a pregnant woman.
Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said deputies arrested Jessie Wayne Yeager Monday at his Almond Circle residence after responding to a reported domestic dispute.
"When our deputies first arrived, they could not make contact with the victim or the suspect," Sexton said. "After about 15 minutes, the suspect came to the door."
While speaking with the victim, deputies noticed bruises and scratches.
"The suspect was charged with domestic abuse by choking the victim who is eight months pregnant," Sexton said. "We called an ambulance to the scene to check her well-being."
In a separate incident Tuesday, parish deputies stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and soon learned the driver was illegally in possession of a firearm.
"The driver, David Scott Fuller, committed a violation and when we ran the car tags, the license number came back for a different vehicle," Sexton said. "In addition to the switched tags and no proof of insurance, our deputies learned that Fuller was a convicted felon."
During questioning, the suspect told deputies there was a rifle in the vehicle and gave consent for a search, Sexton said. Officers reportedly found the rifle and arrested Fuller for felon in possession of a firearm. He was transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
