Tide splits two games

Loyola 3, Minden 1

Thursday. Minden High hosted the Loyola College Prep Flyers at Griffith Stadium on Minden's Little League day.

The game was a tight, scoreless tie through five innings, until the Flyers broke through with a single run in the sixth. Loyola added two more in the top of the seventh, to lead the Tide 3-0. Minden scraped a run in the bottom of the inning, but it wasn't enough as they fell, 3-1.

Sawyer Stephens started and struck out six batters for the Tide, and Trace Francis got the final two outs.

Carson Bolyer doubled, and Turner Francis, Sawyer Stephens and Gunner Stephens all added singles. Caleb Jones drove in the Tide's lone run.

Minden 5, Northwood 0

Saturday. The Tide traveled to Shreveport to take on the Northwood Falcons and came away with a 5-0 win.

Minden scored three times in the top of the first inning and then once in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Minden starter Carson Bolyer went the first five innings giving up just three hits and striking out four. Caleb Jones pitched in with two innings of hitless relief with two

Austin Sumner, Hutton Leppert and Bolyer all doubled and Turner Francis singled for the Tide. Leppert, Sumner, Bolyer and Jones all drove in runs.

The Tide will host Huntington on Tuesday and Fair Park on Thusday, with Thursday's game being Senior Night.
