Apaches to host Mustangs in a doubleheader on Friday

MONROE — Holding a slim 1-0 lead, the Glenbrook Apaches exploded for four runs in the top of the second, and then scored seven runs over the next four innings to take an 11-2 win over River Oaks on Tuesday.

The win improves Glenbrook to 4-0 in district and 12-5 overall.

Glenbrook and River Oaks will meet again Friday at Glenbrook for a doubleheader. Game 1 begins at 4 p.m.

Logan Clark led off the Apache first inning with a walk and then stole second and third base, before scoring on Jacob White's RBI-single.

White and Conner Copeland both added RBI-singles in he second, and Clay Simonton drove in a run with a groundout.

White drove in a pair of runs in the third to increase the Apache lead to 7-0.

River Oaks cut the lead to 7-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Apaches responded with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

Dakota Shinall drove in Clark with a single to center, and Copeland later plated Shinall with a sacrifice fly.

In the sixth, Shinall singled in Braden Dickson who had singled, White drove in Clark and Copeland drove in Shinall with a 6-3 groundout.

Clark the sat down six of the last seven batters to close out the 11-2 win.

Clark got the save, pitching the final two innings of one-hit ball, striking out two.

White started on the mound for the Apaches and took home the win. He went the first five innings, giving up two hits and one earned run while striking out two.

White also had a big day at the plate, going five-for-five with four runs batted in. Shinall went three-for-five with two RBI, and Copeland singled and drove in four runs.

Clark singled, walked three times and scored five times and Matthews and Dickson both added base hits.
