The Glenbrook Apaches swept three games over the weekend in the Kilgore (Texas) Tournament.
"It's early, but I have been impressed with they way we've hit good pitching," Glenbrook coach Jonathan Hardy said. "But we have to get better defensively, and I think we will."
The Apaches won their first game of the weekend beating Garrison, Texas, 8-1 on Friday night.
"I felt like we hit the ball better than we did in our first game," Hardy said. "Garrison is a very good team and they beat us last year, so it was good to come back and get the win this time."
Spencer White started and went the first three innings to get the win. He allowed one earned run and three hits while striking out three. Clay Simonton pitched the last two innings, allowing three hits and striking out six.
Connor Copeland led the way at the plate with three singles and two RBIs. Simonton had a two-run hit and Spencer White added a RBI-double. Dakota Shinall drove in a run with a single and Logan Clark singled and doubled. Jacob White added a single.
In Saturday's first game, the Apaches beat Beaumont Legacy, 11-0.
Clark led the way with a single, a RBI and three stolen bases. Jacob White doubled, singled and drove in two runs, and Sutton Jones and Triston Sanders each added a two-run double.
Jacob White went two scoreless innings for the win.
In the second game, the Apaches beat Huntington (Texas), 11-9.
