Lady Panthers fall, 62-39

DOYLINE —The Doyline Lady Panthers were unexpectedly knocked out of the first round Class B playoffs Thursday night with a 62-39 loss to Hathaway.

"It was just a bad night," Doyline head coach Michael Normand said, "Offensively we were stagnate, we didn't shoot the ball well at all. We got into some foul trouble early and that affected us as well."

The Lady Panthers led by one after the first quarter, but late in the second quarter Hathaway was able to turn the game around.

"The key to the game came with about four minutes left in the half," Normand said. "Their big girl was in foul trouble, so I told our girls not to let them shoot three's. But Hathaway hit five three-pointers and built an 11-point lead at the half. We were in position on defense but didn't get out on the shooter and it was the key to the game."

Normand continued, "The deficit put us in scramble-mode in the second half," he said. "And we're not the chase and scramble type of team, and they were able to capitalize on that."
