SIBLEY — The Lakeside Warriors hosted the Calvary Baptist Cavaliers Thursday night and almost pulled off the upset.
Lakeside played well, but two things stood out enough to pull the Warriors down in their 69-63 loss.
"Free throws and turnovers were the death of us tonight," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "We only made eight of 21 free throws, so that's a
big, big difference in the game. Plus we had 19 turnovers and we could not overcome ourselves."
Lakeside came out hot, but Calvary came right back.
"We started off really well," Gould said. "We out-scored them 20-11 in the first quarter, but they came back and out-scored us 20-13 in the second.
But we still had a two-point lead going into the half, 33-31."
Calvary came out after the break and out-scored Lakeside, 22-15 in the third quarter and 17-15 in the fourth for the 69-63 final.
Frankie Miles scored 20 and Maurice Moore had 13 to lead the Warriors. Lance Williams scored eight, Davion Whiting dropped in six points and
Jamarion Teal had eight.
"Now we're going to finish it out Friday night," Gould said. "We have North Caddo coming in, and it's our Senior Night. We're going to honor our senior
players from our boys and girls teams. We hope everyone will come out and show their appreciation for the kids."
Games begin at 6 p.m.
