Nearly 1,000 runners took to Minden's streets during the 6th annual St. Jude 5K/10K Saturday morning.
The event grew by nearly 400 runners over last year's race.
"It just gets bigger and bigger," race volunteer Jennifer Thomas said. "St. Jude is a big draw, and that helps a lot."
The race raised $18,500 for the children's cancer research hospital.
The majority of runners were not serious athletes, but just supporters of St. Jude raising money for the cause.
"Our race is a little different because it's family oriented," Thomas said. "There's some serious runners in there, but you see a lot of parents and kids."
About 100 ran the 10K. A total of 977 participated.
Open winners of the women's 5K were Hilary Gray of Minden with a time of 30:03; Renn Alley of Minden with a time of 42:30; and Rachel Willis of Hallsville, Texas, with a time of 43:13.
Open winners of the men's division were Chet Kennedy of Texarkana with a time of 38:20; Benjamin Broussard with a time of 38:27; and Matthew Godwin of Hallsville with a time of 40:50.
