Past Jaycee president returns

Leonard Colvin, president of the Minden Jaycees in 1964, is coming this weekend from Big Canoe, Georgia to emcee a reunion of Jaycees at Exacta Inn.

The event will take place from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 23.

Colvin, formerly chief accountant of West Company in Minden, has had a very successful business career in Georgia, first as a partner in Gibson Stores and then in the financial world of bankers and investment services.

Currently, he has his own group in the Merrill Lynch office in Gainesville, Georgia.

During his tenure as Jaycee President, the Minden Chapter was first in the state competition in a state which was first in the nation. They were chosen to lead the parade at the national convention in Dallas in 1964.

Colvin has been a very active Baptist, serving as a deacon in Minden and as chairman of the Board of Deacons in Gainesville. His civic work has continued to be outstanding.

Leonard and his wife, Peggie Shropshire, also of Minden, have been married since 1951. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
