SHREVEPORT — The Minden High Lady Tiders improved to 12-6 and 1-0 in district with a 68-46 win over Northwood on Tuesday.
"I thought we played well," Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. "I thought it took a little while for us to get started, but JaCourtney Neloms hit three three-pointers early, and that kind of got us going. Everyone fell in line after that."
The Lady Tiders led 15-7 at the end of the first quarter and 37-16 at the half. The two teams played even, 16-16 in the third quarter and Minden took the fourth, 15-12.
"We played well in transition," Brown said. "We also played well in the half-court sets and did a good job with our second chance opportunities. We got in a groove in the second quarter, playing fast and hitting the open people and knocking down shots. We just played really aggressive."
Neloms led the Lady Tiders with 28 points and Tiaga Pugh added 13 points and six rebounds. Antavia Sterling turned in a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Minden teams will host Benton on Friday night at 6 p.m.
"We really won't all our fans to come out," Brown said. "These girls really want to see the community behind them."
