COLLEGE STATION, TX. —At the end of the 2013, outdoor track season Lakeside sprinter, Chris Lewis, cemented his position as the top sprinter in Louisiana.
Lewis won the 100 and 200 meters a the AA state meet posting times which were the best in all classes. For this achievement Lewis was named the outstanding sprinter in the state by the Louisiana Sports Writer Association.
Lewis started his Senior season in the fall by scoring 24 touchdowns and rushing for over 1,000 yards in leading Lakeside to a 7-4 season and the playoffs.
Now in the opening meet of the indoor track season Lewis won the 60 meter dash at the Texas AM invite which featured 150 of the top sprinters, in the South and Southwest.
Lewis qualified for the finals by running 6.97 in the prelims which was the second best qualifier. Lewis ran a 6.87 to win the finals. The time, which is one of the top in the nation, was a personal best for Lewis. During the last three years Lewis has posted 55 meter dash times which have ranked in the top 10 nationally.
Next action for Lewis will be on Jan. 25 at the La. High School qualifier at LSU. Lewis is coached by David Kidd and Scott Johnson.
