Bash contributions pick up steam

Local businesses and individuals have shown their support of the third annual back to school bash by making contributions.

Ursula Hullaby, who is a team member of Back to School Bash and Pack the Bus, said businesses have been calling to say they want to help with the programs.

"We are excited (about this year's bash)," she said. "The more sponsorships we garner, the more we can provide the students.

"The feedback has been so positive," she continued. "We are just elated to have the support of the Webster Parish area and surrounding areas."

Hullaby said she feels the community is "all on the same page" - that 'We are Better Together,' which is the theme of this year's bash.

Supplies are being collected to "Pack the Bus" in Minden on July 29 and Saturday July 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The supplies, in addition to haircuts, teeth cleanings and other services, will be given to children at the Back to School Bash on August 8 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Minden Civic Center.

According to Bash and Pack the Bus volunteers, the events are being held so that all students in the parish start school feeling ready, prepared and confidant.

Bashes will also be held in Springhill on Sunday August 7.

Elementary students (grades K-5) supplies will be at Community Activities Center, while the Bash for student supplies for grades 6-12 will be at North Webster High School.

Volunteers are sill needed for Pack the Bus and for the Back to School Bash.

Those wishing to offer time, service, supplies or financial contributions are asked to call Hullaby at 377-7052 ext 228.
