An Arcadia couple that allegedly intended to celebrate the holiday with stolen items, instead spent Christmas at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
Johnathan W. Shaw, 22, and Gracie Nicole Smith, 29, of the 1200 block of 1st Street, were arrested for theft of goods by Minden Police.
Chief Steve Cropper said his office received a report of a vehicle leaving the parking lot of a local discount store on Homer Road in the early evening Sunday.
"The caller said the vehicle had stolen items inside it," Cropper said. "They gave a description and a license plate, so Off. Jeremy Sitter was able to stop them on Hwy. 531."
According to the report, the officer found more than $900 worth of stolen items in the 2000 Ford SUV. The discount store manager was able to provide the officer with a list of the stolen merchandise with prices.
Shaw and Smith were booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to BDCC.
