Willie D. Mitchell

MITCHELL OBITFuneral services for Mr. Willie D. Mitchell will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Bloomy Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Kilbourne. Burial will follow under the direction of Tennant Funeral Home in Rayville.

"A time to be Born"

Willie David Mitchell was born to the late L. C. and Odell Mitchell on at 8 p.m. May 4, 1942 in Bienville Parish, Gibsland.

"A time to Plant"

Willie was educated in the public school system of Louisiana. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church. On March 17, 1981 he became an active member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He worked as a professional truck driver for over 25 years. Giving and helping others is what he loved and cherished most.

"A time to Love"

Willie was joined in holy matrimony to Cora Hill on November 17, 1963. From this union three children were born: Gigi Renee Mitchell, Kenneth Ray Mitchell and Threase Yvette Mitchell.

The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage.

"A time to Mourn"

He was preceded in death by his brother, Reverend Lehmon Mitchell and stepbrother, L. C. Mitchell Jr.

"A time to Die"

Willie departed this life Saturday, Dec. 22, 2013 at his home in Minden surrounded by his loved ones.

"A time of Peace"

Willie quietly departed this world and walked into the comfort of the Lord.

He leaves to celebrate his memories, A loving wife, Cora Hill Mitchell, Minden; one great-aunt, Beatrice Bell, Minden; one aunt, Willie Mae Davis, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Curtis Mitchell (Idell) and Major Gene Mitchell, Houston, Texas; three sisters, Ethel Goffney, Vera Shepherd, Houston, Texas and Geneva Brown, Bethany; one son, Kenneth R. Mitchell, Minden; two daughters, Gigi R. Mitchell, Minden and Threase Y. Mitchell, Houston, Texas; five grandsons, Jerome R. Mitchell, Mario M. Mitchell, Marcus J. Mitchell, Charleston Freeman, Minden and Cornelius L. Ware, Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Mo'Neka M. Mitchell, Minden and Brya O. Hampton, Houston, Texas; three great-granddaughters, Jazzmen, Alexa, and Camelia; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
