James Dayton 'Buddy' Sims, Sr.

photo1.JPG Buddy SimsFuneral services for James Dayton "Buddy" Sims, Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden. Officiating will be Rev. John Cannon. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery in Athens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Buddy was born Nov. 20, 1939 in Minden and was a native of Athens and a resident of Minden, where he passed away Dec. 9, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was a veteran of the National Guard and a lifetime member of the Athens Methodist Church. He retired from the State of Louisiana Regional Office of Family Support after 38 years of service.

His parents, Reita Greer Sims and Dayton Rufus Sims and infant son, Ryan W. Sims preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Alderson Sims of Minden; son, James D. "Buddy" Sims, Jr. and wife, Sonya of Minden; daughters, Julianna Sentell and husband, Sherb of Minden and Susanne Mazza and husband, Frank of Madison, Mississippi; sister, Peggy Sims Reese and husband, J. B. of Ruston; grandchildren, Lauren, Megan and Dayton Sims, Nikolas Mazza, and Samantha and Chase Sentell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Flynn, Joey Lee, Jeff Simmons, Murray Greer, Randall Reese and Benjie Winn.
