HAUGHTON — The Minden High Lady Tiders fell to the Ruston Lady Bearcats, 53-44 in the Haughton Tournament over the weekend.
"I feel like we're playing pretty good basketball right now," Lady Tider head coach Jacob Brown said. "But we didn't convert on our opportunities in this game."
The Lady Tiders fell behind early and had to fight back the rest of the game.
"We got down 10-2 early," Brown said. "A lot of that stemmed from not getting back on defense and giving up too many offensive rebounds. We didn't do a good job at blocking out."
The Lady Tiders trailed 18-15 at the end of the first quarter, and 29-26 at the half.
"We were able to cut the lead down to two points at one time," Brown said. "Ruston would build it back out to 10 before we cut it back at the half. We felt the game was still in reach at that time."
Ruston pushed their lead to 45-33 by the end of the third quarter.
"We challenged the girls in the fourth and they really wanted to come back and play for the championship on Saturday," Brown said. "We came back and got the lead down to under 10, but we missed some opportunities after that and Ruston went on to win."
Tiaga Pugh led the Lady Tiders with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. JaCourtney Neloms added 12 points and Metosha Gill had six points and eight rebounds. Anatavia Sterling added four points and six rebounds and Ebony Pugh had four and five.
