Minden Police have arrested a Minden couple on drug charges after they were stopped for simple traffic violations.
Edwina Katrina Thomas, 29, of the 700 block of Theus and Alonzo L. Mims, 22, of the 500 block of Moore Street were arrested for possession of CDS Sch. I synthetic Marijuana and Probation and Parole violations.
Mims was also cited for no turn signal, driver's license or insurance.
Chief Steve Cropper said Off. Jonathan Odom followed Mims' Honda Accord after he saw it negotiating turns without a signal.
"Off. Odom initiated a traffic stop on East Union and in plain view, on the front seat of the vehicle, he observed what he believed to be synthetic Marijuana," Cropper said. "The officer asked the driver (Mims) and passenger (Thomas) who the synthetic Marijuana belonged to. They both indicated it didn't belong to either one of them."
Odom, assisted by Ofc. Kenneth James and Off. Russell Engi, arrested Mims and Thomas and took them to Minden Police Department for booking.
According to reports, Sgt. Tokia Whiting conducted a search of Thomas at MPD and discovered Thomas had concealed a suspected Marijuana cigarette in her left shoe. Sgt. Whiting also reportedly found a bag containing 10 bags of suspected synthetic Marijuana concealed in Thomas' clothing.
After booking, Mims and Thomas were transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where a hold was placed on both by Probation and Parole.
