Brother David Earl Thomas, Sr. was born May 15, 1934 in Dubberly to the late Andrew and Lucille Hampton Thomas. He was the first sibling of the family.
David received Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Nebo Baptist Church of Dubberly.
He attended school at Central School. He was employed at Pit's Glass Company in Shreveport for several years. He was a specialist at his craft of cutting glass. He later moved to Maywood, Illinois to be closer to his mother. Upon the death of his father he moved to Minden in 1983 and remained until his death.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife, Catherine Mims Thomas; son, David Earl Thomas, Jr. of Zanville, Ohio; five sisters, Eura Thomas of DeRidder, Rosie Duty of Minden, Betty Hill of Beaumont, Texas and Mary D. Johnson of Lombert, Illinois; one brother, Archie Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado; stepchildren, Earnestine Calton, Pearlie Calton, Curtis Calton, Dianne Frazier, Jimmy Markray and Charles Markray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald McDaniel officiating. Interment will be at Home Civic League Cemetery.
Visitation will held today (Friday, November 15) from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary.
