Lakeside to host playoff game

Warrior head shotSIBLEY-The Lakeside Warriors' football team will host Class 2A playoff game this weekend, and if hopes prevail, the Warriors' basketball team will do the same after the new year.

While most teams in the area have only a few starters coming back from last year, Warriors head coach Jason Gould returns all five starters from a year ago.

"We should be better this year," Gould said. "With all five starters returning, it gives a deep bench. We have good athletes, we just need to become better basketball players."

The Warriors won't rely on one or two players, Gould expects the whole roster to shoulder the load.

"We don't have one main scorer," he said. "But we should have decent balance with Lance Williams (Sr.) and Davian Williams (Soph.) at guards, Jamarion Teal (Jr.) and Maurice Moore (Sr.) at forwards and Nyles Moore (Sr.) at the post."

Gould expects his team to be in the mix in District 1-2A, but admits Lakeview and Homer are the favorites.

The Warriors will host Minden in a jamboree on Thursday
