Born on Jan. 25, 1953, Ms. Mary Lee Brown of Minden, daughter of the late Bob Harris and Mattie Mae Green, departed her earthly home on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.
Ms. Brown, affectionately known as "Mae Lee," accepted Christ at a very young age and was a member of New Light Baptist Church. Mae Lee was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed attending and participating in their events. She attended Webster Jr. High School before becoming a homemaker. She was very passionate about life. Mae Lee enjoyed spending time with her family and friends playing dominoes, which was one of her favorite pastimes. She was an extremely outspoken woman with strong opinions and beliefs.
She is survived by her mother, Mattie M. Green of Minden; her daughter, LaTonya Turner (Roderick); her grandchildren, Travion Rose, Mar'Quisha Brown, Quadrick Turner, Kiri Turner, Titiana Coley and Mitchell Kemp; one brother, Larry Green; two sisters, Virginia Green and Patricia Mack; two nieces, Tierra West Heard (Brandon) and LaQuana Bailey; and two nephews, Quintez Allen and Dominique Green. She is further survived by great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of other relatives, godchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Harris.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at New Light Baptist Church. Family hour will be at Benevolent Funeral Home Friday, November 1 at 6 p.m.
