JACKSON, MS. — The Mississippi College Cross-Country Meet proved to be another positive step for the Lakeside cross-country teams.
Running on one of the south's best cross-country courses, season-best performances were posted by many of the Lakeside runners.
In the varsity boys 5K (3.15 miles), Eric Greene ran a season-best of 17.14 to easily win the boys' championship by 30 seconds.
Greene's time ranks as the 12th best 5K time in all classes in Louisiana.
Cody Robinson, coming back from a foot injury, finished 16th at 19.17 (98th ranked time in all classes), and Ryan McFarland finished 93rd at 22:58.
There were 174 varsity boys that participated.
In the varsity girl's 4K (2.54 miles) race, Alissa Lander finished third with a season-best time of 16.11. This time ranks as the fourth-best 4K time in all classes in Louisiana this year.
Heather Schneck finished 43rd at 19:26 and Brooke Walker finished 55th at 19:45. There were 174 varsity girls who participated in the race.
The junior high boys turned in another impressive performance, running against eighth, ninth and 10th-graders.
Tyler Davis led the way, running a 13.26 over the 3200 meter course, good enough for 18th place.
J.T. Thomas finished 19th at 13:57, Gaven Fleniken finished 59th, Logan Bailey finished 61st, Chandler Perry finished 87th and Duncan Plunkett was 96th. There were 136 runners in the junior high boys race.
The next action for the Lakeside runners will be on Saturday, October 19 in Alexandria at Menard High School.
