I want to take a moment to say thank you to the Krewe des Ambassadeurs. This group has graciously adopted the Webster Parish foster children assigned to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Although it is not the first donation CASA has received from them I want to say thank you for the most recent check for more than $1,000 the Krewe des Ambassadeurs donated.
Just to name a few things their donations have accomplished: a teen aged-boy now has a basketball goal and ball (to encourage his love for the game) and he attended basketball camp for a week during the summer and his toddler brother has a walking toy to assist as he learns to walk.
Their donations also recently provided a shopping spree for a 16-year old girl (to boost her confidence during such a trying time).
Then on top of donations they felt in their hearts that a special night of fun was in order; they provided a night at the fair. CASA children and their families rode in the Krewe float and threw candy during the Webster Parish fair parade and then were able to get into the fair for free, eat and ride rides. What an amazing event!
The CASA program will continue to use the Krewe's and other donations to benefit the children as a need is made known, or a birthday occurs or to contribute to an awesome Christmas for the 40 children we are assigned to.
During the time I have had the supervisor job in this parish there have been many other organizations willing to give to our children by donating Christmas gifts, money, clothes or anything needed. I want to say thank you to all of those that have opened their hearts to help. Because of your kindness our foster children are being given the opportunity to enjoy life's simple pleasures we may take for granted.
