Lander and Greene shine at Byrd cross country meet

SHREVEPORT — The Lakeside Warriors cross-country teams continued their improvement at Byrd Cross-Country Meet.

The meet featured a junior varsity division that ran a two-mile course and a varsity division that ran a three-mile course.

In the boy's varsity division Eric Greene ran a season best of 16:52. This time gave Green a fourth place finish. Ryan McFarland finished 36th out of 100 runners.

In the girls varsity division Alissa Lander finished second with a season best time of 19:25. Lander finished second behind defending AAA State

Champion Kaitlan Tanner of Loyola and in front of Calvary star Haily Hesterman.

Heather Schneck finished eighth and Brooke Walker was 16th.

Over 100 ladies participated in this race.

In the junior varsity division the Warrior junior high foursome of Tyler Davis (10th), Aaron Cole (36th), Logan Bailey (37th), and Gavin Fleniken (40th) competed very well against 220 runners of eighth, ninth, and 10th graders.

Former Warrior star, Enrique Soto, ran his first college meet on Saturday at Lake Charles. Soto, running for McNeese, finished 26th out of 89 runners with a time of 21:15 over a four-mile course.

Next action for the Lakeside teams will be at Jackson, Mississippi Saturday, October 5.
