Lady Apaches close out 2013 season

CLEVELAND. MS. — The Glenbrook Lady Apaches softball team's season came to a close this past week in the MAIS North 2A playoffs in Cleveland, Miss.

The Lady Apaches went 1-2 in the tournament and ended their year with a 4-2 district record and an overall record of 16-8.

"I thought we played pretty well," Lady Apache head coach Johathan Hardy said. "Jessica Mangrum was definitely the highlight for us. She pitched really well and kept us in every game, as she kept all three teams off balance."

Hardy said that his defense played well in the tournament, but the offense came up just short.

"We hit the ball well in Game 2," he said. "But I feel like if we would have had some more timely hits in Game 3, we'd still be playing."

Game 1: Leake 3, Glenbrook 1
Carsin Spurlock had the lone Glenbrook hit.

Game 2: Glenbrook 7, PVA 0
Gracyn Gorman led the team with three hits, Spurlock doubled and Alyssa Martin had two singles. Katie Kidd, Megan Sims and Macey Branch added base hits.

Game 3: Tri-County 5, Glenbrook 2
Shelby Nicholas led the team with a double and Sims had a RBI-single. Sunni Wilson, Spurlock and Mangrum added singles.
