Dixie Faye Carter Hanson

Dixie Hanson006Funeral services for Dixie Faye Hanson, affectionately known as Nana, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Doyline. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie Rhymes. Interment will follow at Doyline Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Dixie was born Nov. 20, 1934 in Wisner, the daughter of Thomas Milton Carter and Carrie Byrnes Carter. She entered into rest Sept. 10, 2013 in Doyline.

She enjoyed singing, and at an early age could be heard singing on the local radio station, the Louisiana Hayride and her church choir. She worked at LAAP as an Associate Engineer for twenty-plus years. Dixie was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Doyline where she served as choir director, church treasurer, GA leader and various other roles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Billy Noel Hanson, and her brothers, Frank Carter and Johnnie Carter.

She is survived by her sons, Steve Hanson and wife, Rhonda of Glenwood, Arkansas, David Hanson and wife, Beth of Maumelle, Arkansas and Bobby Hanson and wife, Arlene of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Donna Hanson Boltinghouse of Bossier City; brothers, Tommy Carter and wife, Fancy of Doyline, Clyde Carter and wife, Iris of Doyline and Clifton Carter and wife, Harriet of Springhill; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dixie loved her family, her church, gardening, crafts, being in the kitchen preparing meals for those she loved and gospel music.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Marla Bardwell for her love, support, and devotion.
