Judging Yourself First

06-05-max"And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? . . . You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." Matthew 7:3-5 NASB

With obvious and intentional exaggeration, Jesus states a great principle. Before one can judge the actions of another person, he must first judge and correct his own actions.

Notice the great contrast between a speck and a log. A speck is a small particle of dust or wood. A log is a large beam or board such as a "2x4". One must remove the faults and sins in one's own life before confronting another.

Lord Jesus, I am thankful for Your forgiveness of my sins. Help me to learn how to live righteously and then to share with others Your mercy and grace.
