Two Minden High bowlers sign college scholarship papers

Last Saturday at the Minden High School Auditorium, two Crimson Tide bowlers signed scholarship papers with Southwestern Christian University in Bethel, Oklahoma.

Greg Johns and Gabriel West will attend the school and bowl for the school team. SCU coach Shaun Koonce traveled all the way from Oklahoma to collect the signatures of the two future SCU Eagle bowlers.

"I'm not sure the amounts of the scholarships that both boys received, but I have been told that both will be participating in the 2013-2014 season for the Eagles," Minden High bowling coach Wendy Dobbins said.

Johns kept a steady 180 average during his career at Minden High and Gabriel West kept a steady 140 average.

"Greg helped me create the bowling team last year in order for him to be able to potentially get scholarships to play in college," Dobbins said. "Last year we were District runners up. Greg received 1st team All-District last year and 2nd team All-District this year, and Gabriel earned All-district Honorable mention for this season."

Johns made it to the quarter finals at the bi-regional bowling tournament in Houma this year.
