With 24 amendments tacked on to it, Sen. Robert Adley's bill 204 has passed from the Finance Committee back to the Senate floor where it was approved and awaits a third reading.
Adley's bill is the second phase of funding for the community and technical college system in Louisiana.
"This is a big, big bill," Adley said. "I'll have to bring it back to the Senate floor, and then it will head to the House (of Representatives). I think we can get it out of there, but it's a big bill that's important to a lot of people."
SB 204 proposes more than $200 million to go to technical/community college construction statewide.
Four facilities, along with program costs were in the list of amendments.
They include Delgado Community College in Jefferson Parish – $10 million, Northshore Technical Community College in Livingston Parish – $5.1 million, South Central Louisiana Technical
College in St. John Parish – $3.7 million and South Central Louisiana Technical College in St. Mary Parish – $3.3 million.
Already in the bill is $2.5 million to complete the vision for Northwest Louisiana Technical College in Minden.
In 2007, the Legislature passed Act 391 which allowed NWLTC to begin building a new campus.
