April is Civitan Awareness Month

The Minden Civitan Club was awarded the most prestigious award Civitan gives for excellence in the Candy Box project, the H.O.P.E. award.

Civitan International recognized the Minden club for their effectiveness of the club's Candy Box program, the number and quality of projects supported by Candy Box income, and the number of volunteers who participate, and public awareness created and documented as a result of the Candy Box project.

The H.O.P.E. award was presented to the Minden Civitan Club at the yearly Civitan International convention in Tallinn, Estonia.

The Minden Civitan's received a distinctive banner patch and a $1,000 contribution was made to the Civitan International Research Center in the club's name, automatically making the club an "Associate" of the Research Center.

The "blue peppermint boxes" are located in over 40 local business' in Minden, Dixie Inn and Bossier City. The boxes are maintained by Civitan Members Billy LaBlanc, Steve Bryan, Bill Barnett, Judy Grubbs, Henry Lawrence, Patt Betts, Jane Rogers, Linda Johnson, Joe Biles and Jerry Rogers.

Janis Bryan is a member of the Minden Civitan Club.
