A high speed chase in Webster Parish ended in death for a Claiborne Parish man Sunday night.
According to reports, 44-year-old Tony Burns of Haynesville was ejected from his vehicle during the crash. He was not restrained.
Burns was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner's Office. He was the only person in the car.
Burns was reportedly speeding on U.S. Hwy. 79 (Homer Road) around 9 p.m., when Minden Police officers gave chase.
Troop G reports Burns failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway just south of La. Hwy. 518, hit a ditch and flipped several times.
Toxicology tests are pending.
According to Troop G, the crash remains under investigation; however, alcohol and speed are suspected factors.
