MOBILE, AL. — The Mobile Challenge of Champions track meet draws many of the top track and field athletes in the South.
Lakeside High School had two participants invited to run in the Invitational Division.
Chris Lewis got off to a good start and led all the way in winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.70.
The week before at the Texas Relays, Lewis finished sixth in the Division II race which featured the top time in the nation by Cameron Burrell who blazed a 10.07. Lewis ran a 10.59 in the finals after winning his prelim at 10.62.
Enrique Soto added another title to his impressive resume by winning the two-mile race. Soto's 9:25.89 converts to a 9:21 3200 time, which was a personal best for the senior distance runner.
At the Texas Relays, a week earlier, Soto ran a season best 4:25.70 in the 1600.
The Lakeside teams will be in action today, at the Haughton Buc Relays.
The field events start at 3:30 p.m., and running events will begin at 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 17, the Warriors will host the District 2-AA girls and boys meet.
