Annual Don Stahl Memorial Tournament to run through Saturday

SIBLEY—The Lakeside Warriors and Lady Warriors will start their post holiday break with a bang, as they host their 19th Annual Don Stahl Memorial Tournament.

The tourney will begin today and run through Saturday in the Lakeside High School and Junior High gyms.

"We're really excited about our tournament this year," Warrior head coach Jason Gould said. "We have some exciting local match-ups and it looks like some games that will draw some big crowds."

Teams from Lakeside, Minden, Doyline, North Webster, Haynesville, Haughton, Evangel, Loyola, Northwood, Bossier and Calvary will all take part.

"Our boys will open up with Doyline," Gould said of his Warriors' 6:30 p.m. match-up with the Panthers. "It should be an exciting game with a great crowd. We don't get to play Doyline as much as we used to, so it's good to get that rivalry going again."

Gould feels there will be some quality teams in the boys' bracket.

"Minden will be there, as will Haughton and Evangel," he said. "There should be some good, quality games every night on the boys' side. Hopefully we'll have some exciting games and some good crowds all the way up to Saturday's championship games."

Gould thinks his Warriors will stack up well against the rest of the boys' bracket, and he feels the same way about the Lady Warriors.

"Our Lakeside girls are set up to potentially reach the finals," he said. "They play Northwood first, and our girls have been playing very well. There are a number of girls' teams that are traditionally tough. We're really looking forward to all the match-ups."
